A clear vision for yorkville

Let's get back to basics, cut spending and pay off past debt. As candidate for Alderman, Ward 1 of the United City of Yorkville, I will make my decisions based on the residents' best interests.

"I am not satisfied that our current administration is doing everything possible to bring the budget and spending under control.  Although in the last few months there has been a lot of talk about reducing the budget and cutting costs, I do not find these efforts to be sincere."

"I want to control spending and be a watchful steward of our tax dollars for my entire four-year term, not just the three months leading up to my re-election."

Sales Tax Increase Debate — 3/14/2011

Ward 1 Alderman Candidate Carlo Colosimo questioned whether the 1 percentage point sales tax increase - if approved by voters April 5 - would raise enough money to cover the sewer bond payments in a few years. Mayoral Candidate Valerie Burd offered her perspective as well during a candidate forum Monday at Heritage Woods of Yorkville. Their exchange came after an audience member asked the candidates about their plans to reduce the local property tax burden.
